Busy Bee...

Wow a lot can happen in so little time. So much so one can feel dizzy from it. I had a fashion internship, the celebrity menswear couture line freelance gig, AND now I am currently the Design Director & Lead in-house Designer for a top jewelry & accessories manufacturer... and it's only a few blocks from home!!! No commute to downtown!

Though most of the designs are not my style... not in the least haha, it feels amazing to have my work in some of the top retail stores all over the world, even in PARIS!!!

Our clients include Forever 21, Claire's, Hot Topic, Spencer's, Urban Outfitters... just to name a few. I can't talk about our projects until they're in the stores, so I can at least say that right now 4 of my necklace designs have been TOP Sellers at Spencer's since last October!

I'll post a link to them as soon as I can!

So yeah, I've got so much on my plate with this sudden jump in my career that I have no time to fret hahaha. I haven't even had time to do a single fashion sketch to post JEEZ :)

Alrighty I'm gonna go cook my mom's beef stroganoff then be lazy playing some God of War 3 on my new playstation 3.... What?! I'm like Penny from Big Bang Theory! Cute Funny and nerdy at times... Well most times teehee :-D

XOXO!!!!!

Inspiration of The Week

"Dancers in The Wings"
c. 1876-1878

Painted by the famous French artist Edgar Degas who was enthralled by ballet dancers. His paintings and sculptures capture such exquisite artistry and emotion. I particularly loved this piece upon seeing it at the Norton Simon Museum. I found myself unable to walk away from it. I felt as if I was one with the artist, understanding his deep fascination of the dancers as I saw through his eyes how lovingly he portrays this very candid and intimate peek behind the curtains as he focuses not on the butterfly maiden in the foreground but just past her to this milky white damsel adjusting in her pink tulle and flowery dress as the ballerinas make ready for their performance on stage.

Quite a romantic window into the thoughts of Monsieur Degas.

Jean Paul Gaultier Couture Spring 2012

A sketch of mine from the Jean Paul Gaultier Couture Spring 2012 collection.
I was so inspired by this fabulous chic rocker style, a classy homage to the late musical icon,
Ms. Amy Winehouse. Regardless of her life choices and excess, her music revamped the R&B/blues/jazz industry. Her voice commanded this soulful play on words and emotions that no one could deny and will never be surpassed... sorry Adele.

Saville Row

Here's UK's famous Mr. B Gentleman Rhymer at a protest in London's prestigious Saville Row protesting the tainting of a historical landmark.

"Here's what someone wrote:
For those of you are interested; check out youtube for a documentary on why the introduction of Abercrombie and Fitch to the historical Savile Row is such a terrible thing. For those interested in knowing why, but lack the time to watch it, here's a quick tl;dw:

Within the clothing community, literally no other areas command as much respect for fine clothing as Savile Row. Kings and Emporers, celebrities and the rich, have all bought their clothing here for years. Napolean himself is still in the ledgers of some of the shops on this row. As such, the very name "Savile Row" adds prestige to clothing. A&F will cash in on this, with low quality trash that sullies everything the Row has stood for. This is not the sole problem, but rather, the expense and property tax of these buildings will continue to grow, while Savile Row tailors struggle to make ends meet. (Which should give you some indication as to the cost and expertise going into the suits, as they charge upwards of 5k for the most basic suits). To force these places out of business (unintentionally), would be a great loss, both sartorially and historically speaking."

MARCHESA Georgina Chapman

Here's sketch I did of the MARCHESA gown that the gorgeous designer Georgina Chapman wore at the 84th Academy Awards this year. She is truly an inspiration in beauty and talent.

Alrighty so here's the deal. I realized that I haven't been putting up any fashion sketches especially since graduating from FIDM and I feel my blog has been veering off from my original goal, so I've decided to zero in on my love of fashion by:

1. Posting my sketches of the latest fashions on the runway.
2. Posting inspiration photos of the catwalks and even folks on the street who have unique style.
3. Every Thursday I will post the "INSPIRATION of the WEEK."

(Don't worry I'll still be updating what's new in my HAUS of NAHRIN shop!)

ENJOY!!! :)

I'm BATMAN....

I love when rich people do good... GO BATMAN!!!

Leonard Robinson is known as Batman to children in area hospitals. He visits hospitals in costume and hands out Batman hats, shirts, backpacks and other things to brighten their days. Here, he is photographed at his home in Owings Mills.

GLAM IT UP!

Well, now that the freelance work is over I can get back to focusing on my own designs... Got a few ideas in mind. Been working on new patterns for some new killer accessories!

C'est moi! Here's a new pic of me in an awesome outfit (note: not my design... But I just had to share this cool photo :) I am right with Rachel Zoe's motto of "over-accessorizing." It's sexy and chic... But it's gotta work with your outfit ladies! Add some crystal encrusted jewels in gunmetal with a short leather skirt and a fur/faux fur sleeveless cardigan to give your edgy look the extra wow factor for a fun night out on the town!

I am Back!

Sorry it's been awhile folks. Been busy with a few gigs but I'm back. Got some news: I've been designing jewelry & accessories for companies with clients including HOT TOPIC, SPENCERS, & URBAN OUTFITTERS!!! So next time you walk into any of these stores, you might be seeing or buying one of my awesome designs!!!
