A Wish For You All.

May you find joy and bring joy to others,
May your lives be blessed with family and friends,
May your days be filled with laughter and tears of happiness,
And with all the rest
May you find love and love in return.

Wolfsheim - Kein Zurück

Here's a song I listen to whenever I'm working on anything from painting to writing to clothing designs... Below the video I pasted lyrics translated in English I found online. Since I'm not German, I can only hope these are faithful translations. A dear friend of mine introduced me years ago to this great German group, Wolfsheim. Hope you enjoy!

There is no way back

Do you remember how i was like?
Wonderful childhood -
the world full of color and beauty.
Until one day you it strikes you:
not every goodbye
has its reunion.

Always forward, step by step,
there is no way back,
and what is now,
can never be undone.
Time escapes us,
what's done is done.
And what is now,
will never happen again in the same way.

There is no way back.
There is no way back.

A word too much, spoken in anger,
a step too far you dared to go,
and all is lost.
Whatever is done,
what i said, remains spoken,
and what looked like eternity,
is already in the past.

Oh, if I could just once
turn back the clocks.
For much of what I know today,
I'd prefer not having seen.

There is no way back.
There is no way back.

Your life is just running in circles,
full of time, carelessly thrown away,
you procrastinate your dreams endlessly.
Someday, you intend to live,
but when if not today?
For one day even a dream is too long gone.

Falling Slowly - Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova

I LOVE this song & movie... I'll say no more.

I don't know you
But I want you
All the more for that
Words fall through me
And always fool me
And I can't react
And games that never amount
To more than they're meant
Will play themselves out

Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you have a choice
You've made it now

Falling slowly, eyes that know me
And I can't go back
Moods that take me and erase me
And I'm painted black
You have suffered enough
And warred with yourself
It's time that you won

Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you had a choice
You've made it now
Falling slowly sing your melody
I'll sing it loud

Good to be Home...

I'm so happy and relieved to be back home in LA with mom and she seems much better though she still needs a great deal of rest.

Thank you to everyone who sent me their love and prayers :)

Today was one of the worst days of my life.... mom suffered
a "small heart attack" as the doc said at the local AZ hospital. HAH! I just love the use of "small" in such a phrase....its complete and utter bullshit.
This is the 4th time I've had to watch her suffer like this and I almost lost her twice.
I pray with everything that I am that she gets better. She is truly
the best mother any child could dream of. She is my rock. She is my hero. She is my ELIZABETH.
Get well soon Momma.
I love you.

Loreena McKennitt- The Old Ways

The Olde Ways...

As I lay outside in my uncle's backyard watching the stars under the Arizona skies,
I was overcome with melancholy over a favorite song that played on my ipod by an extroardinary Celtic singer of the name Loreena McKennitt.
The song is called "The Olde Ways." Thought I'd share it's beauty.
"The pounding sea is calling me home to you
The pounding sea is calling me unto you
On a dark new year's night On the west coast of Clare
I heard your voice singing
Your eyes danced the song
Your hands played the tune
T'was a vision before me.
We left the music behind and the dance carried on
As we stole away to the seashore
And we smelt the brine, felt the wind in our hair
And with sadness you paused.
Suddenly I knew that you'd have to go
Your world was not mine, your eyes told me so
Yet it was there I felt the crossroads of time
And I wondered why.
As we cast our gaze on the tumbling sea
A vision came o'er me
Of thundering hooves and beating wings
In clouds above.
Turning to go heard you calling my name,
Like a bird in a cage spreading its wings to fly
"The old ways are lost," you sang as you flew
And I wondered why.
The thundering waves are calling me home to you
The pounding sea is calling me home unto you
The thundering waves are calling me home to you
The pounding sea is calling me home unto you
The thundering waves are calling me home to you
The pounding sea is calling me home unto you"

Love, Love, LOVE these lyrics!!!

Excerpt from: "GLASS" by BAT FOR LASHES

"I will rise now
And go about the city
In the street's broadways I seek
Him whom my soul loveth

Went over the sea
What did I find
A thousand crystal towers
A hundred emerald cities
And the hand of the watchman
In the night sky
Points to my beloved
A knight in crystal armor

And I tried to hold him
I tried for the creed
I'll make a suit of colors
To stop the blinding mirrors
Sew a cape of red and gold
Stifled up the beam
With the perfect armor
With a perfect dream

To be made of glass
When two suns are shining
The battle becomes blinding
To be made of glass
But we ride tonight, tonight, tonight, we ride"

... so inspiring. Oh such is the fate of a dreamer.

Prince of Persia

Now I know it may be hard to believe, but YES, the legends are true! There are some ladies such as myself who indulge in fashion, literature, AND video games. My brother gets most of the credit, but I guess it also helps to be surrounded by gamer guys since I was a wee lass. Thanks to them I've had a healthy dose of comics and scifi mixed with a hint of gaming galore.

Most games that have been made into films turn out to be terribly disappointing.
However, after seeing the film Prince of Persia, I actually liked it... no, I LOVED it!

Now, I know some of you (Tony, Bryan & Erich haha), might cringe at my sacrilegious thought, but I found it to be a delightful surprise. We know its not as awesome as the games
you guys, but I thought it was a lot of fun!

Anyways, I thought I'd share with you my new favorite quote
from the film Prince of Persia: Sands of Time,
"It Is Said Some Lives Are Linked Across Time.....
They Are Connected By An Ancient Calling that echoes through the ages.....

COMIC CON!!!!!!!!

The SDCC is a couple of weeks away!!!! One of my guilty pleasures since I was a kid. Growing each year by the hundreds (ok maybe thousands?), Comic Con has become a diverse collective encompassing comics, video games, film, costumes, illustrators, books and countless more. It will be a grand time to see my cousins' faces light up as it will be their first time attending.
I smile impishly as I quote from the film Under the Tuscan Sun, "Never lose your childish enthusiasm and things will come your way."

during the event that lasted long into the night.

I hope everyone had a lovely 4th of July!!!

Fashion Please!!!

Alright, so I've debated whether or not to put some of my fashion sketches online for all to see, and though I'm still not comfortable showing my own designs online, I will be posting sketches I've done based on runway catwalks from some of my favorite designers' collections.

A bridal gown designed by John Galliano for DIOR.
I just gave it a peach hue

Another gown designed by John Galliano for DIOR.
I just gave it a peach hue and added a print motif.

A gorgeous blouse and skirt from CELINE.
Originally designed with an indigo palette, however
I changed it to a romantic plum-rouge.

Bon Anniversaire!!!

A dear friend of mine just took me out to lunch to celebrate my birthday early as it is actually tomorrow the 11th. We had a fabulous meal at one of my favorite Persian restaurants in the valley. We talked about life, fashion, and fun, and she mentioned my little bump-in with my Dragon Lord from last year. Her jaw dropped when I told her that I'd seen him again a couple of weeks ago. For whatever reasons, I know it was not for nothing. May the fates guide him to me once more. Who knows, perhaps third time's a charm... :)

I wish all my fellow Geminis equal felicity and love.

To my Dragon Lord...

Have you ever stared at a beautiful painting or gazed at a magnificent statue and wondered, "what would it be like to live in that moment." To rise with the heroes of myth or to love as Héloïse and Abelard from the times now dust, even for but a day in a lifetime.

As an artist, I feel a deeper understanding for life and the human spirit. During my stay in Paris a couple of years back, I was truly moved, spiritually, walking within the great walls of Notre Dame. I would place my hand along the stones, the pews, and the columns and it was awe. And it wasn't just because it was holy ground. No, in fact it wasn't that at all. It was as if I could feel the spirits of old who had ever walked along those stones, the nobility who had knelt before the altar upon making their vows, or the workers who had died building the cathedral. I could feel them all coursing through my being, and I was walking with them... outside of time. There are no words to describe it other than it was most profound.

For a long while, I've carried a sketch that I drew of a man I dreamt of since I was a child. This man always had a distinct look about him, an aloof air yet of masculine bearing. A man of purpose who does not look but sees with those telling blue eyes that know more than he'd say. A man of few words, a man of thought.... a dream man.

Last year, he suddenly.... appeared. I was stunned speechless. Was I mad? Or maybe I needed better contacts? It was impossible to think he simply walked off the page and into my life. HAH! But there he was, my Dragon Lord. I couldn't help but sneak looks here and there. Still trying to psych myself out of what was happening. I never actually got a chance to speak to him, for just as suddenly as he appeared, I looked away for a second and he had vanished.

And so I muse, can it be that all your life you can dream of someone and find that, at least in bearing and visage, they actually exist? Perhaps I'd known him in another life...
